Who We Are

This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information when you install and use the Waifu Gatekeeper Chrome extension (the “Extension”), which is developed by Turiy4 (“we,” “us,” “our”) as an independent project.

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The Extension stores the following data exclusively in your browser's local Chrome storage (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server operated by us.

• Session time data — accumulated browsing time per tracked domain for the current day, used to trigger break reminders.
• Extension settings — your configured session time limit and break duration.
• Tracked sites list — the list of domains you have chosen to monitor (defaults include YouTube, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit).
• Selected companion character — your chosen waifu companion preference.
• License key (Pro users only) — a UUID key used to locally validate a Pro license purchase. This key is stored locally and validated against Dodo Payments infrastructure at activation time only.

Data We Do Not Collect

• Your browsing history or visited URLs beyond detecting whether you are on a tracked domain
• Personal identification information (name, email, age, location)
• IP addresses or device identifiers
• Analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting data
• Keystrokes, form inputs, or clipboard contents
• Cookies or cross-site tracking data
• Content of web pages you visit

How We Use Information

All data stored by the Extension is used solely to provide core functionality:

• Tracking time spent on designated domains to enforce session limits you have set
• Scheduling break reminders via Chrome's Alarms API
• Displaying your selected companion character during break overlays
• Restoring your preferences across browser sessions
• Verifying a Pro license key at the time of activation

We do not use any collected data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the functionality described above.

Chrome Permissions Explained

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions. We use each permission for the narrowest possible purpose:

Permission	Why It Is Required
storage	Saves your settings, session times, selected character, and license status locally on your device.
tabs	Detects when you navigate to a tracked domain so the timer can start or stop. No tab content or full URL is recorded or transmitted.
alarms	Schedules periodic checks (once per minute) to determine when a break is due. No alarm data is transmitted.
scripting	Injects the companion overlay onto tracked pages when a break is triggered. Only runs on explicitly listed domains.
activeTab	Allows the popup to read the URL of your currently active tab to display relevant status information.

Third-Party Services

Dodo Payments (Pro Purchases Only)

If you choose to purchase a Pro license, payment processing is handled entirely by Dodo Payments. We do not receive, process, or store your payment card information. Dodo Payments is a third-party payment processor governed by its own privacy policy. Upon successful payment, Dodo Payments issues a license key UUID to your email address. You enter this key in the Extension to activate Pro features.

Dodo Payments may collect information necessary to complete your transaction (such as name, email, and payment details) in accordance with their privacy practices. We encourage you to review Dodo Payments’ Privacy Policy.

Google Fonts

This website (not the Extension itself) uses Google Fonts to load typefaces. When your browser requests a font, Google may receive your IP address as part of standard HTTP request logging. Google Fonts is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Chrome Web Store

The Extension is distributed through the Google Chrome Web Store, which is subject to Google's own terms of service and privacy policies. We have no control over data collected by Google as part of your use of the Chrome Web Store.

Data Retention and Deletion

All data stored by the Extension resides in your browser's local storage and is tied to your Chrome profile on your device. You can delete all Extension data at any time by:

• Uninstalling the Waifu Gatekeeper extension from Chrome (this removes all associated storage)
• Using Chrome's built-in site data management tools at chrome://settings/cookies
• Using the “Reset” option in the Extension's settings panel

We do not retain copies of your data on any server, so there is no server-side deletion process necessary.

Data Security

Because all data is stored locally in your Chrome browser using the chrome.storage.local API, its security is tied to your device and Chrome profile security. We recommend using a strong device password and keeping Chrome and your operating system up to date.

Your license key, if applicable, is stored in local storage in plaintext. We advise not sharing your device or Chrome profile with untrusted individuals if you wish to keep your license key private.

Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information in connection with a Pro purchase, please contact us at turiy4support@gmail.com and we will take steps to address the situation.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights relating to your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete information. Because we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, we cannot fulfill data subject access requests for Extension usage data — that data exists only on your device and is fully within your control.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We may also post a notice in the Extension or on this website. Your continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

We will not make changes that materially reduce your privacy protections without providing advance notice.
